Melissa Sheer

Melissa provides investor relations and strategic communications counsel to both publicly traded and privately held companies involved in mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, crisis situations and management transitions, among others. She has extensive experience in the insurance, financial services and fintech industries, with broad experience in the alternative investment sector, including private equity firms and real estate investment trusts. In her career, Melissa has worked on some of the highest profile engagements in the financial markets.

Melissa is also a talented speech and copywriter, drafting press releases, keynote addresses, op-eds and website copy for clients. She also provides media training for clients, prepping them for on and off camera interviews with journalists and anchors.

Melissa actively engages with the media, providing unparalleled media relations advice and access to her clients. Through the firm’s broad network of journalists and broadcast producers, she has placed high profile stories for clients in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Axios, Barron’s, Bloomberg, Business Insider, the Chicago Tribune, Dow Jones MarketWatch, Forbes, Fortune, Huffington Post, Investor’s Business Daily, the New York Post, and many others. Her clients are regularly featured on CNBC TV in the US, Europe and Asia, Bloomberg TV, Cheddar TV, Yahoo Finance TV and the TD Ameritrade Network.

Melissa is a former Managing Director of Kekst and Company, a leading strategic, corporate, and financial communications firm headquartered in New York City. Prior to joining Kekst, Melissa was a Director of Investor Relations at Citigroup, managing and developing external communications for Citigroup’s institutional shareholders and research analysts. She was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Morgan Stanley, managing over $1 billion in fixed income portfolios for ultra-high net worth clients.

Melissa holds a B.A. in Political Science from Barnard College/Columbia University and an MBA in Finance and Economics from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
