Melissa provides investor relations and strategic communications counsel to both publicly traded and privately held companies involved in mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, crisis situations and management transitions, among others. She has extensive experience in the insurance and financial services industries, with broad experience in the alternative investment sector, including private equity firms and real estate investment trusts.

Melissa provided long-term, ongoing transaction and communications support to AIG for its Asset Disposition Plan—a program developed to sell assets and businesses to repay a credit facility provided by the Federal Reserve. She represented AIG on its $16 billion sale of Alico to MetLife, and provided communications counsel on its $5 billion sale of life-insurance and annuity units AIG Star and AIG Edison to Prudential Financial, its $2.2 billion sale of the Nan Shan Life Insurance unit to Ruentex Group and the $1.9 billion sale of 21st Century Life Insurance to Farmers Insurance Group.

Melissa also has extensive restructuring experience, providing both internal and external communications and media relations support for Lear Corporation’s bankruptcy filing and eventual emergence, as well as Buffets, Inc’s pre-packaged bankruptcy and eventual emergence in 2012.

Melissa is a former Managing Director of Kekst and Company, a leading strategic, corporate, and financial communications firm headquartered in New York City. Prior to joining Kekst, Melissa was a Director of Investor Relations at Citigroup, managing and developing external communications for Citigroup’s institutional shareholders and research analysts. She was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Morgan Stanley, managing over $1 billion in fixed income portfolios for ultra-high net worth clients. Melissa holds a B.A. Degree in Political Science from Barnard College/Columbia University and an MBA in finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
